WindPaddle Scout Sail
The WindPaddle Scout sail is our "entry-level" sail intended for the recreational solo kayak paddler. The Scout is the same size sail as our popular Adventure sail, offering a sail intended for 4-15 knot wind conditions.
Our newest sail, the WindPaddle “Scout” was added to our line-up as
an entry level sail to be used in low-medium winds. Solo kayakers will
appreciate its ease of use, lightweight and forgiving manner. Built
for the casual or recreational paddler in mind, the “Scout” is the lightest,
most affordable and easiest to use sail currently on the market.
We built this sail with a soft batten that holds sail shape, yet is
pliable enough that it almost coils/folds itself!. For an entry level
sail that will pull you quickly downwind yet easy enough for kids 8-80
to handle, the “Scout” is the sail to own.
Features
-Lightest weight WindPaddle sail
-Most affordable sail
-Easier coiling/folding
-Designed for winds in the 4-15 knot range
Ease of Set-up
We developed the WindPaddle to quickly and easily connect to the deck
of any boat. The simple to use clips on the mounting harness make this
possible. Connect to your boat or or switch between boats in seconds.
If your boat has anything that can be clipped to - including deck lines,
cleats, bungees, pad eyes, fairleads, thwarts, handholds on the gunwale
or bench seat - you can attach your WindPaddle to it!
Ease of Use
The WindPaddle sail deploys in a matter of seconds from the on-deck
location. A continuous sheet (or steering line) allows the paddler to
easily control the sail while keeping their paddle in their hands for
bracing and steering. We also placed a large window in the center panel
of the sail for visibility.
Safety
The WindPaddle design puts the center of force of the sail down low,
at about the same level as the paddler, making the boat/sail combination
incredibly stable and easy-to-use.
"Most important for me is the versatility of the Windpaddle. You can use it on any craft and it doesn’t turn a kayak or canoe into a complex, heavy sailing craft ." - Hans Heupink (Holland)
